Hunterdon Medical Center
As part of its commitment to the health of our community, Hunterdon Medical Center provides speakers, free of charge, on a variety of healthcare topics. The Speaker’s Bureau includes physicians, specially trained and certified nurses and other healthcare professionals. Hunterdon Medical Center speakers share their expertise with local schools, businesses, organizations, religious and civic groups.
Topics include health care issues such as heart disease, cancer prevention and treatment, and mental illness. Experts are also available to speak on Lyme disease, nutrition, pediatric health, parenting and childbirth education, diabetes, home care, senior health issues and many more.

As part of its community outreach, Hunterdon Hospice maintains a Speaker’s Bureau of volunteers and professionals to discuss the concept of hospice, its care, and services.
Hospice began as a movement by community leaders who believed that the medical system did not adequately meet the complex needs of those who were dying. The hospice concept centers on holistic treatment for the patient in the context of his or her family and community. Hospice emphasizes comfort and quality of life – not length of life and this also sets it apart from many traditional health disciplines.
Topics addressed in Speaker’s Bureau presentations range from “Who Pays for Hospice Care?” to “Comfort Care and Symptom Management.” The agency’s staff is also available to work with groups to tailor a presentation to special needs, such as “Grief Following the Loss of a Child,” or “Grief Among Long-term Care Workers.” Speakers include hospice clinical professionals, trained volunteers, chaplains and social workers.
