The Sleep Disorders Center at Hunterdon Medical Center is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM), which ensures that patients receive the highest standards of quality care. The center which offers sleep studies for patients ages 3 years and up, offers a unique, convenient program to evaluate, diagnose and recommend treatment for sleep disorders during the course of one overnight sleep study.
Sleep disorders are not just annoying; they can be hazardous to your health. They are associated with a wide range of medical problems, including heart attack, stroke, obesity, and high blood pressure, just to name a few.
If you suspect you have a sleep disorder, ask your physician for a referral to our Sleep Disorders Center. After you complete a questionnaire about your sleep habits and any sleep complaints you may have, we schedule you for a clinical evaluation with a physician who specializes in sleep disorders. If you are determined to be at risk for a sleep disorder, we make an appointment for you to undergo a sleep study or polysomnogram.
A sleep study at the Sleep Disorders Center at Hunterdon Medical Center takes place in a state-of-the-art sleep center, yet is outfitted with all the comforts of a home bedroom. Based on certain required criteria we may be able to perform a “Home” sleep study. During a sleep study, a skilled technologist will evaluate you for sleep-related breathing problems and movement disorders. The morning after your sleep study, a sleep specialist provides a diagnosis, and if necessary, plans for treatment.
Our goal at the Sleep Disorders Center at Hunterdon Medical Center is to help you get a more restful – and healthier – night’s sleep. Call 908-237-4080 to schedule an appointment today.
