Danissa Williams, MDBirthplace: Brooklyn, NY
Hometown: Jackson Heights, Queens, NY
Undergraduate: Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education at CUNY City College of New York – B.S. in Biomedical Science

Danissa became passionate about family medicine through her Sophie Davis BS/MD program. She experienced all of her clinical curriculum in underserved urban areas. Danissa saw first hand how patients struggled to organize and follow up with the various providers they had for their multiple health conditions. It was because of this Danissa decided to pursue family medicine to be able to comprehensively take care of patients through all stages of life. Danissa has a special interest in adolescent medicine because it is an extremely pivotal point in a patient’s life where they undergo many changes and experience additional stress. Danissa hopes to positively impact this vulnerable population with her knowledge and empathy. In addition to her passion for medicine, Danissa is a lover of performing arts. She has spent many years doing ballet, tap, and contemporary dance, as well as playing flute and piano.

Christopher Corcoran, MD

Christopher CorcoranBirthplace: Camden, NJ
Undergraduate: Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, B.S. in Pharm/Toxicology
Medical Education: Rutgers New Jersey Medical School
I discovered the impact of the family medicine physician by observing some remarkable family physicians while attending medical school in Newark, NJ. They were incredible in their expansive working knowledge of medicine while remaining humanistic in their consideration of social, economic, and personal challenges faced every day by their patients. One of the many things that drew me to Family Medicine was the diversity and comprehensive nature of the field as well as the unique opportunity to improve the health outcomes of entire communities through intergenerational relationships. My interests in medicine center on women’s health and OB/GYN, hospitalist medicine, and preventive medicine with the ultimate goal of practicing full-spectrum family medicine in a rural underserved community.
Outside of the hospital, I enjoy surfing, hiking, cooking new dishes, learning new languages, and struggling to learn to play the violin.

Christopher West, MD

Christopher WestBirthplace: Wilmington, DE
Undergraduate: University of Delaware
Medical Education: Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University
Chris became passionate about Family Medicine while working with high need populations within the U.S. and abroad in India and Haiti and while earning his Masters in Public Health. He grew to appreciate the incredible importance of behavioral contributors to one’s health and the complex multifactorial nature of pathophysiology, that only a holistic view of healthcare can properly weigh. Chris has an especial interest in the Geriatric population and hopes to subspecialize in this area.
In his spare time, Chris enjoys botany, animals of all kinds, hiking, reading, and fixing everything he can get his hands on.

Michael Briski, MD

Micheal BriskiBirthplace: Watchung, NJ
Undergraduate: Rutgers University, B.A. in Biological Sciences
Medical Education: Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School
Growing up with a family physician as a father, Michael knew from a young age that pursuing a career in medicine would be an incredibly rewarding life path. Hearing stories that captured the broad scope and comprehensive nature of family practice formed in his mind the image of a doctor as one who heals others holistically. Through this model and other experiences throughout his academic career, Michael came to understand a doctor as a pillar of the community, who could be relied upon to address the health needs of that community and allow it to thrive. New Jersey-born, raised, and educated, Michael is very excited to be able to begin his career in medicine in the Hunterdon community. Outside of medicine, Michael is passionate about the arts and enjoys performing music (choice instruments being the guitar and trombone) and making visual art (drawing, painting, etc.). During his time off you’ll find him enjoying the company of his family and friends, and relaxing on the beach.

Matt Sallady, DO

Matt SalladyHometown: Stockton, CA
Undergraduate: University of California, Riverside, B.A. in Neuroscience
Medical Education: Western University College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific
Matt fell in love with the work of medicine while taking care of patients in an ambulance in the city of Los Angeles. Family medicine caught his attention during that time as he saw the value of long-term relationships with patients, as well as the diversity of patients and diseases. His preference for Osteopathic medicine in particular came about by a chance encounter with a book that contained the ideas of A.T. Still regarding the body’s ability to heal itself. Now he is looking to apply all of the ideas he’s learned in medical school to practice effective medicine that will benefit all of his patients. He not only seeks to benefit a patient’s physical body, but his whole person as well, with all of its emotional, mental, spiritual and social dimensions. He is excited to start his journey here at Hunterdon! Outside of working hard in medicine, Matt is a committed Christian, part of a college ministry, a husband, and a book worm. He loves history, biographies, literature, and anything else thought-provoking.

Melissa Burke, MD

Melissa BurkeHometown: Matawan, NJ
Undergraduate: Rutgers University, New Brunswick, B.A. in Biomathematics
Medical Education: Cooper Medical School of Rowan University, Camden, NJ
Melissa chose family medicine for the diversity and the depth of knowledge required to be a high-quality provider. During Melissa’s third year in medical school, she developed a desire to see her patients on a long-term basis. She yearned to provide them with continuity of care. Family medicine is a specialty that incorporates all that she loves in medicine. It varies from being able to see the extremes of age in one day, to dealing with diverse medical issues on another day, while, most importantly, building relationships with not only patients but also whole families on an ongoing basis. The power of continuity of care makes a critical difference in the overall healthcare of the patient. While in medical school, Melissa volunteered in a number of programs in Camden, which encouraged junior high school students to follow their dreams. Melissa’s passion is to help all children recognize that they hold the keys to all their dreams and through hard work and dedication they can achieve them. In her free time, Melissa enjoys salsa dancing, hot yoga, running, and watching movies.

Yasmine Mourad, DO

Yasmine MouradBirthplace: Paterson, NJ
Hometown: Livingston, NJ
Undergraduate Education: Drew University, B.A. in Neuroscience
Medical Education: Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine
Prior to medical school, Yasmine spent years in the lab doing research in neurology and stem cell biology and continued this research throughout her graduate education; however, Yasmine knew from the start that her ultimate goal was to become a doctor. She loved her cell cultures and microscopes, but her true desire was always to interact with people, not cells, and to make a difference in not only their health but in their lives. Her experiences during her medical education proved to her that she had a passion for family medicine. She loves diversity; she wants to care for the elderly, but still be able to deliver her patients’ babies, then become that baby’s doctor and watch him grow up as well. Her specific interests include obstetrics, women’s health, and preventative medicine. Yasmine loves traveling for medical mission work and has been to Kenya and Nepal for this reason. In her spare time, Yasmine loves kayaking, hiking, camping, martial arts, and spending time with the one-eyed-cat she rescued!

Rita chose family medicine because she enjoys “whole person” patient care management and providing up-to-date preventive care measures to patients of varied age groups. She wanted to pursue family practice because it is the only field that encompasses care to the whole family and to the whole individual. As a family medicine physician, Rita has the option of combining functional medicine and preventive medicine to tailor a holistic treatment that uniquely fits each individual patient. Another appealing fact of family medicine, to Rita, is the opportunity it offers to build long-term relationships with both individual patients and entire families. In her free time, Rita enjoys spending time with her family, as well as writing.
