Sleep Disorder Symptoms

How do I know if I have a sleep disorder?

Sleep disorders can severely affect quality of life, as the body needs sleep for restoration so it can function properly.

Sleep disorders may indicate a serious illness, as people who are affected by sleep apnea may also be affected by cardiac problems and diabetes.

Symptoms of a Sleep Disorder:

  • excessive sleepiness during waking hours

  • difficulty concentrating

  • irritability and depression

  • pauses in breathing during sleep

  • chronic loud snoring – sign of sleep apnea

  • frequent awakenings

  • coughing or gasping for air during sleep

  • restless body movements

  • unusual behavior during sleep (ex: kicking, punching, shouting during sleep)
