Keep Exercise On Your New Year's Resolution List
"This year I will exercise more, eat less and read at least one book a week." Every year we find ourselves making New Year's resolutions and many of us find ourselves breaking them. The Hunterdon Health & Wellness Center suggests the following tips to keep you motivated to exercise this year:
Focus on what you will gain if you keep exercising. Example: fitting into a smaller size by June.
Setting S.M.A.R.T. goals: Specific - Measurable - Attainable - Realistic - Timely. Example: This week I will exercise 3 times for 20 to 30 minutes.
Include all 4 types of exercise: cardiovascular (walking, biking); strength (resistance training using weights); flexibility; and balance (maintaining correct posture, stability on your feet, ankle strength, etc).
Schedule exercise into your daily routine like you would eating and sleeping. Exercise is a priority for your health.
