What is CT Scan?

Advanced Computed Tomography Scanning (CT Scan) is performed to diagnose a variety of conditions, or to rule out others. Computed Tomography scans reveal both bone and soft tissues, including organs, muscles and tumors.

How is CT Scan helpful?

Because it provides detailed, cross-sectional views of all types of tissue, Computed Tomography is one of the best tools for studying the chest and abdomen. It is often the preferred method for diagnosing many different cancers. The image allows a physician to confirm the presence of a tumor and measure its:

  • precise location
  • size
  • extent of the tumor’s involvement with other nearby tissue

When is CT Scan used?

Computed Tomography examinations:

  • are often used to plan and properly administer radiation treatments for tumors
  • guide biopsies and other minimally invasive procedures
  • can clearly show very small bones and surrounding tissues like muscle and blood vessels
  • is invaluable in diagnosing and treating spinal problems and injuries to the hands, feet, and other skeletal structures
