Support Programs and Survivorship Education

Support programs and survivorship education at the Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center give cancer patients and their families the chance to interact with physicians, health care professionals and experts in the community. Participants may discuss a variety of topics, including diagnosis, treatment, new research, communication and coping skills, community resources, and mind/body approaches to treatment. These programs provide a safe, non-threatening environment where patients with common interests and concerns can learn from each other. All programs are provided free of charge and are held in the Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center conference room. For more information call (908) 237-2337.

Partners In Healing: Partners In Healing is a group of cancer survivors who volunteer to provide peer support to patients currently undergoing cancer treatment. These men and women receive specialized training to enhance their communication and listening skills.

The objective of this volunteer program is to match a Partners In Healing volunteer with a patient who has a similar diagnosis or who is in similar circumstances. Volunteers visit with patients at Hunterdon Medical Center, outpatients at the Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center, and provide support via telephone.

Patients may request a visit from a Partners In Healing volunteer through their physician, oncology social worker, nurse or any other staff at the Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center. If you would like to speak to or receive a visit contact the Partners In Healing Helpline at (908) 237-0744.
