Hunterdon Family Medicine
We welcome you as a patient... ...and we appreciate the opportunity and the privilege of providing you and all the members of your family with medical care. We provide a complete Family Practice, which includes pediatric and gynecological services.
Understanding Family Practice and the Role of the Family Practice Physician
A family doctor is a physician trained in continuing and comprehensive care for all members of the family. The physician is trained to take into consideration the family unit and its traditions, and emphasizes these concepts in the treatment of illness in all patients. The family practice physician actively utilizes and freely consults with other specialties as required in the management of the patient’s overall health.
Emergency Care
In case of an emergency, any time of day or night, simply call the office. A physician is on call 24 hours a day, including weekends and holidays. Many emergencies are handled in the office. If you are calling after hours, call the office number and leave the appropriate information with the answering service, indicating the urgency of your problem. A physician on call will contact you.
If there is a life-threatening emergency, go directly to the nearest emergency department or dial the emergency number for your local rescue squad. Please note that, with certain insurance plans, unauthorized use of an emergency facility may not be reimbursed.
Fees and Payments
We make every effort to contain the cost of providing medical care. You can help by paying at each visit the full fee or co-pay for which you are responsible. Deductibles, co-insurance balances and co-payments are the portions of your insurance coverage not paid by the carrier. These charges are your responsibility.
HMO and Managed Care patients are reminded that it is their responsibility to notify us of the name and type of their insurance carrier. All changes to coverage should also be promptly reported so that we can avoid expensive and time-consuming billing errors.
If you fail to notify us of changes in your insurance status, for instance, you may be responsible for the cost of certain services.
Medicare and managed care patients should know that their insurance does not always cover all immunizations or laboratory costs. If Medicare or an insurance carrier denies charges, payment is the responsibility of the patient.
Managed care referrals and consults must be arranged in advance. We require 48 hours notice on all referral requests.
