Certified Nurses
In the United States many nurses choose to become board certified in a specialty. Certification, as defined by the American Board of Nursing Specialties, is the formal recognition of the specialized knowledge, skills, and experience demonstrated by the achievement of standards identified by a nursing specialty to promote optimal health outcomes. This year, 57.9% of registered nurses at Hunterdon Medical Center received board certification in their field. Hunterdon Medical Center is a Magnet hospital. This prestigious award recognizes hospitals for excellence in nursing care. Only a select group of hospitals in the country achieve this honor. In fact, only 5.1% of all health care organizations in the United States have achieved Magnet status.
