Neurosciences
Spine Care
We offer expert total spine care. Our team consists of physicians, nurses, physical therapist and pain-management specialists who collaborate in treating the most challenging spinal problems. Since only approximately 10% of patients with spinal disorders require surgery our specially trained physicians (Orthopedic and Neurosurgery) are available to provide ongoing consultation regarding you back pain. These specialists work in conjunction with your primary care physician, physical therapists and pain management physicians.
Spine Surgery
Spine surgery is considered only after other conservative therapies have not been successful. Our professional team work collaboratively with our Spine surgeons (Orthopedic Surgeons and Neurosurgeons) who are leaders in the field of spine care including minimally invasive surgery. Our surgical unit is equipped with the most advanced technology with personalized patient care in a comforting environment.
Concussion Care
A concussion is an impact to the head caused by a fall, collision or blow that can result in physical, emotional, cognitive or sleep impairments. The Center for Disease control and Prevention (CDC) is now classifying concussion as a traumatic brain injury. Only about 10% of concussions result in loss of consciousness, and often a concussion is not the result of one large impart but a series of small collisions to the head. It is felt that concussion awareness and education are the keys to treatment and management. Our affiliated physicians and providers offer services which address the needs of individuals with a concussion from ImPact testing to physical therapy.
Neurology
Neurologists in collaboration with our team of Nurses, technicians, and therapists provide care for diseases and conditions that affect the brain and nerves. These may include: Stroke, Epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, concussion, migraines, Sleep disorders etc. Offered specialized tests include: CT scan, EEG, MRI, Sleep Study. Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy are available to assist in the rehabilitation for some of these conditions.
Behavioral Health
Hunterdon Behavioral Health provides high-quality, comprehensive mental health and addiction services. Our professional clinical staff provides treatment and care – evaluation, medication monitoring, counseling and support for adolescents and adults with mental illness, emotional difficulties or addiction. We offer individual sessions and specialized group programs.
Neurosurgery- Cranial Treatments
Our highly trained team of Neurosurgeons, Nurses, Therapists and Technicians work collaboratively to deliver state of the art treatments for diseases and disorders of the brain including complex procedures. The newly designed OR is equipped with the latest instrumentation to address the most complex surgeries and our dedicated Neurological care unit is focused on ensuring total care for each patient.
Primary Stroke Center
Hunterdon Healthcare provides a full complement of services for care following a stroke and is a designated Primary Stroke Center which means the hospital provides quality care—including advanced technology and specially trained, certified staff to meet the unique and specialized needs of stroke patients. Speed is essential in stroke evaluation and treatment. It is important to recognize the signs of a stroke:
- Facial numbness or weakness
- Arm weakness
- Speech disturbance
- Time is of the essence
Sleep Center
The Sleep Disorders Center treats many types of sleep disorders including sleep apnea, periodic limb movement syndrome, restless legs syndrome, narcolepsy, and insomnia. Our newly designed Sleep Center located within the Clinton Health and Wellness Center is a warm and welcoming facility staffed by our caring and knowledgeable physicians and technicians.
Neuromuscular Disorders
These disorders can affect control and sensation of your arms and legs and may lead to many different disabilities. Working in conjunction with specialized physicians, HHS offers a variety of medical imaging services which assist in the diagnoses of these disorders. Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy are also offered to address the effects of such disorders as Guillain Barre Syndrome, Multiple Scelerosis, Cerebral Palsy, etc.
