HMC "Ask The Nurse" Segment on WDVR to Focus on Lyme Disease

Published April 3, 2008

In 1975, Lyme disease originated in Lyme, Connecticut when large numbers of children were being diagnosed with what appeared to be juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.  Researchers traced the children's signs and symptoms not to arthritis, but to a bacterial infection transmitted by deer ticks.  The infection was then named Lyme disease.  Lyme disease has spread across the United States but the disease remains heavily concentrated in the northeast as well as the upper Midwest and northern California.

On Monday, April 14th from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Kathy Roye-Horn, RN, Director of Infection Control at Hunterdon Medical Center, will provide information on Lyme disease on WDVR.  Learn the facts about Lyme disease and how to prevent it.  This program will help listeners identify the signs and symptoms of the disease.

Listeners can tune into to WDVR on 89.7 FM, 91.9 FM or listen online at http://www.wdvrfm.org Listeners can also call into the program and ask questions at 609-397-1620 or e-mail a question to host@wdvrfm.org.
