HMC Nurses Honor Dr. Veerappan as Physician of the Year

Each year the nurses of Hunterdon Medical Center honor a physician with the Physician of the Year Award. The 2008 recipient is Sutharsanam Veerappan M.D., Neonatologist and Pediatric Hospitalist at Hunterdon Medical Center. 

The award was given to Dr. Veerapan based on the following criteria:
Collaboration   
• Initiates and/or participates in collaborative practices with the healthcare team regarding patient care.
• Initiates educational opportunities for the healthcare team and patient.
Compassion
• Is a good listener
• Is approachable and accessible to patients, families and staff
Integrity
• Earns the respect of the entire healthcare staff
Communication
• Develops respectful relationships with all members of the healthcare team
• Consistently communicates openly and honestly with patients and family regarding plan of care.

Dr. Veerappan is also the Medical Director for Newborn and Pediatric Services at Hunterdon Medical Center.  He is board certified in Pediatrics and Neonatology.
