Hunterdon Medical Center’s Pharmacy Residency Program Receives Accreditation
Published May 15, 2009
Hunterdon Medical Center’s Pharmacy Residency program recently received accreditation from the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP), the national accrediting body for Pharmacy Residency Programs.
The pharmacy residency program builds upon the knowledge, skills, attitudes and abilities gained from an accredited professional (Doctor of Pharmacy) degree program. There are over 100 standards that need to be met for the purpose of achieving professional competence in the delivery of patient-centered care, in pharmacy operational services, and to develop leadership skills.
Accreditation also depends on the skills of the preceptors. They must show contributions to their respective area of practice, formal recognition by peers as a role model, contributions to the professional literature, participation in professional organizations and effective teaching skills.
