As part of her Girl Scout Gold Award project, Nicole Prisco made 50 care packages for the elderly and donated them to Hunterdon Medical Center's Home Health Department for their homebound patients. Each package contained a medical information card provided by Hunterdon Medical Center, a pill box, first aid kit, playing cards, a nail file, tissues, hand sanitizer, hand wipes, puzzle book, calendar, pen, eyeglass cleaner, magnet, toothbrush and a prayer card. Nicole also made keychains and enclosed a personalized note and wrote a poem for each care package. "I remembered how my grandmother would always lose her keys, so I wanted to make key chains so that the people who receive these packages wouldn't lose theirs," explained Nicole.
Nicole received donations for her care packages from Paul Phillips Eye & Surgery Center, Flemington; North Hunterdon Dental, Clinton; St. Ann's Church, Hampton; Shop-Rite, Flemington; Shop-Rite, Washington and A&P, Hampton.
The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award that a Girl Scout 14-18 may earn. The Gold Award project is the culmination of all the work a girl puts into "going for the Gold." It is something that a girl can be passionate about-in thought, deed, and action. The project is something that fulfills a need within a girl's community and creates change. Last year, approximately 5,500 Girl Scouts received the Gold Award.
Nicole Prisco resides in Asbury, New Jersey and is a Junior at Warren Hills High School in Washington, New Jersey. She belongs to Rolling Hills Girl Scout Council and is a Senior Girl Scout in Troop 4828.
