Fit For Cancer Event Raises Funds For Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center

On Saturday, February 13th the Hunterdon Health and Wellness Center in Clinton and Whitehouse Station hosted Fit for Cancer.    Seventy-three people chose to participate in one of five programs which included: a 3-hour Spin for Cancer, a high-energy, indoor stationary cycling program where the instructor took participants on a "virtual" outdoor road race, a 3-hour Boot Camp, which combined cardio and strength training, a 3-hour Biathlon, swimming and running workout, a 3-hour Zumba dance and fitness workout or a 3-hour Senior Water & Walk class.  Each participant made a commitment to raising $250 or more and the event raised over $38,000.  Over the past seven years, the Fit for Cancer event has raised nearly $230,000.  “This incredible collective effort by so many individual athletes truly exemplifies the spirit of philanthropy that binds a community together,” stated Meredith Betz, Executive Vice President, Hunterdon Medical Center Foundation.

Proceeds from this event will used to enhance programs and services at Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center.  Hunterdon Regional Cancer Center is a partner of Fox Chase Cancer Center.  Its comprehensive services include chemotherapy, radiation therapy, clinical research, early detection and screening programs, support groups, educational programs, nutrition counseling, psychosocial support, complimentary therapies and cancer risk assessment.
